Well, it?s summertime, so things slow down. Life gets less engaging. No big operational deals are happening. There is not much to write about. So I decided to give you a small overview what from my perspective is going on in Poland.
I believe that Poland is getting pace in its development. There are several facts showing this. (1) Poland remained the only growing GDP in Europe and survived the crisis pretty well for its population and businesses; (2) Polish stock-exchange is one of few successfully IPOing big and small cap companies and paying good valuations; (3) All top investment banking firms (Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan and others) are opening its offices in Poland positioning Warsaw at similar priority as Frankfurt and Moscow though making buy-out money available and showing interest for polish businesses; (4) VC money is flowing like in no other country - 7 VC funds has been shortly established worth ca 600 mln zl; (5) And finally we have an united government that is now able and I hope willing to take important steps in building our economy wider
Having said all that let me refer a little to Krakow - my city. We see turisms rebounding, and real estate sales picking up which is nice, but most important are great conferences and events coming to town. The TED which will be held in October and TechCrunch planned for April. To all those people staying behind and making it happen I?d like to say ?Excellent job and thank You for making our little world a better place?.
